Noon Ball, 2012

When I first moved to Canton, New York, many aspects of life there were foreign to me. Lunchtime basketball, however, was a familiar ritual that has existed in every place I have called home.

No matter where I go, I am struck by the range of personalities, ages, body types and skill levels that join together to play basketball. The individuals, each with their own unique peculiarities, define the group.

Sweat-drenched and exhausted, the portraits highlight both the aggressiveness and the vulnerability of these players.
